The little tearoom on the place Darnétal, where the most succulent pastries are created, celebrates its fortieth birthday in 2017. Don’t miss it when you visit Montreuil-sur-Mer. Interview with Mathieu Delenclos, the owner.

Mathieu Delenclos has always had an artist’s soul.

Firstly, passionate about music (he studied the trumpet at the conservatory), he eventually turned his hand to pastry in 2002.

In his small Montreuil tearoom with a cosy atmosphere, opened in October 2013, he uses both his skills as a pastry chef and baker. “All my creations are home-made,” he explains, “Including the bread, bagels and burgers. ”

But it is his fine pastries, served with a cup of tea, for which the tearooms are famous.

“I couldn’t have imagined establishing this tearoom anywhere else but here,” explains Mathieu. “With its heritage and rich cultural life, Montreuil-sur-Mer is simply the ideal town. ”

The Salon Rodière tearoom is the best address for the most demanding (sweet) palates! Enjoy tea with one of the pastries Mathieu Delenclos prepares in harmony with the seasons and his inspirations, in an elegant atmosphere. The shop now has a beautiful selection of loose tea, infusers and  tasting hampers.

A hot cup of tea, a soft armchair, the comforting heat of a wood stove... There is nothing like a quiet moment in a cosy setting, taking time to catch up, far from everyday hassles.
